OPEN supports the development of The Providence Art & Design Center at Parcel 5, a mixed-use project that includes both housing and creative programming. Ionic Development is 100% women-owned and WADE / KEATING is a design firm that understands the role the arts play in making our city both culturally vibrant and economically strong, and this is the only shortlisted proposal that includes an affordable housing component, as well as both rental apartments and opportunities for home ownership.

OPEN has met with WADE / KEATING and agreed in principle to create an exhibition space within the building. The space would facilitate both OPEN-designed projects and support work by local artists and cultural organizations.

This design features a porous, walkable arrangement with both exterior storefronts and an inner pedestrian street.

200 residential units and 50,000 sf for new Art & Design Center, a mix of shops, local businesses, and exhibition space.

5% of units provided as creative workforce housing.
