In 2023, we purchased a basket of Portuguese language 45 RPM records from The Emporium, a second hand shop in Swansea, MA. The majority are hand signed by the presumed former owner, Tony Sonto. The archive contains a mix of Fado, pop, traditional folk, and new wave—including a rare 7” from the Fall River area band Capitalists.
On Saturday October 4, 2025, OPEN is hosting a DJ night at Myrtle in East Providence. The first hour will feature picks from the archive, followed by an evening of contemporary music by artists living in, or on labels based in Portugal. The event is free and open to guests twenty one years of age or older.
